A migrant labourer drowned in the river Jhelum, while extracting sand from in South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Saturday morning even as the rescue operation has been launched to retrieve his body.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a group of men were extracting sand from the Jhelum at Badripora Kawini village today morning

He said during extraction one non-local labourer slipped into the river, following which rescue operation was launched in the area.

The official identified the labourer as Mohammad Aadil (19) of Bihar—(KNO)
