The night temperature in Srinagar went below the freezing point for the first time this season, with the mercury settling at minus 0.8 degrees Celsius.

The south Kashmir’s Pahalgam, was the coldest place in Kashmir valley with a minimum temperature of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius.The night temperatures in other parts of the Valley also settled below the freezing point with Kupwara registering the temperature at minus 2.9 degrees Celsius and Qazigund at minus 1.6 degrees Celsius.

The ski resort of Gulmarg registered the temperature at minus 3.8 degrees Celsius, 0.3 degrees down from the previous night.

Drass was the coldest recorded place in the Ladakh Union Territory with the mercury settling at a low of minus 13.5 degrees Celsius. Leh town recorded a low of minus 9.6 degrees Celsius – down from the previous night’s minus 9.0 degrees Celsius. Jammu city recorded 9.2 degrees Celsius, Katra 9.6, Batote 6.5, Banihal 9.0, and Bhaderwah 2.2 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
