The Meteorological Department on Sunday forecast rain or snow in Jammu and Kashmir as the weather remained cloudy during the last 24 hours.

“Widespread rain and snow is likely in Kashmir division and light rain in Jammu division during the next 24 hours.” an Meteorlogical official told the Kashmir News Service (KNS).

He said, Srinagar recorded minus 2.4 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam minus 5.6 degrees Celsius and Gulmarg minus 7.2 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Jammu region he said, Jammu and Katra recorded 7.6 degrees Celsius, Batote 4.0 degrees Celsius, Banihal 2.0 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 1.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region he said, Kargil recorded minus 10.6 degrees Celsius and Leh recorded minus 13.0 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature

The 40-day-long harsh winter period known as ‘Chillai Kalan’ will end on 31st of this month followed by 20-day-long ‘Chilai Khurd’ and 10-day-long ‘Chillai Bache’.(KNS)
