Twelve couples from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday tied the knot in a mass marriage function here organised by an NGO ‘Peace and Friendship Foundation JK’.

The chairman of NGO, Ashiq Husain, while speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said, “Today we have arranged a marriage function at our branch office located near Saidakadal Srinagar where we successfully tied the knot of twelve couples who hailing from various parts of the valley.”

All the families were very much deserving and it took us an amount of approximately 7 lakh rupees to arrange the mass marriage function, he said.

Ashiq said their NGO is a non-profitable and non-funded organisation and they arranged the money by issuing different fundraisers on social media. “We also got help from friends and others for it,” he said.

The Nikah ceremony was carried out by Moulana Hakeem Sajad who was accompanied by Moulana Nazir Ahmad, he added—(KNO)
