Police and army on Sunday destroyed in controlled manner some suspected explosive material believed to be kept inside a tiffin which was found in suspicious manner on Jammu-Poonch highway, officials said.
They said that based on information about the suspicious object found at the highway near Sangpur, Police party of police station Rajouri and police post Chingus along with a team of army’s 54 RR rushed to the spot.
During search, they said, the joint team spotted a tiffin box lying near playground on the highway which was suspected to carry some explosive substance.
The Police and team of army’s 54RR cordoned the area for destroying the explosives in controlled manner. Subsequently, they said, the same was destroyed without any loss to life or property.
Now, they said, traffic is playing normally on Jammu-Poonch Highway. A Police official confirmed it to GNS and said that further proceedings under law are being taken. (GNS)
