Jammu & Kashmir Right to Information (RTI) Movement on Sunday inaugurated an RTI help desk at main town Uri in north Kashmirโ€™s Baramulla district.

The desk was, as per GNS, inaugurated by Dr Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, Chairman J&K RTI Movement, Irfan Hafeez Lone, renowned RTI activist of the valley and advocate Naveed Bukhtiyar.

The other activists who were present on the occasion include Abrar Bhat, Mohd Hanief Chachi and Nayeem Ullah Khan.

Hafeez said that the desk has been opened with an aim so that residents of Uri get some benefit out of it. โ€œThis is a border area and people here have multiple issues. But this help desk will teach them about RTI so that they can find the solutions of their problems from the government and make them accountable,โ€ he said.

Ghulam Rasool said that this is the second desk after the Srinagar one that has been set up in Uri. โ€œThere are issues on the administrative end in Uri but this desk will provide some relief to their woes and it was a demand from the youth of this area,โ€ he said.

โ€œThis desk will be providing assistance to those who wish to file the RTIs,โ€ Bukhtiyar said. (GNS)
