The Government of India Wednesday said that all the citizens from Jammu and Kashmir are entitled to benefits under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY-SEHAT scheme.

The Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai in a written reply to Rajya Sabha said that all citizens of Jammu and Kashmir are covered under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY-SEHAT scheme, which provides health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family free of cost.

He said that a Government employee can get benefits under this scheme, apart from the provisions of medical attendance rules.

The main aim behind the scheme is to extend health insurance coverage to all residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

It provides free-of-cost insurance cover to all the residents of J&K and It also provides financial cover up to Rs.5 Lakh per family on a floater basis to all residents and an operational extension of PM-JAY to 15 lakh (approximately) additional families. [KNT]
