Day after 10 persons lost their lives and several others injured in a tragic road accident, the officials of Traffic Department on Thursday acted tough against overloading and seized over 100 vehicles in south Kashmir areas.
 
A special drive was conducted by Traffic Rural Kashmir in which commercial vehicles violating rules set by the government regarding boarding passengers were seized.
 
SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Pal Singh along with DSP Traffic Pulwama, Shopian Dr Mudasir Tramboo, issued challans to more than 100 vehicles who were found involved in violating norms.
 
The drive was carried rigorously since Thursday morning and more than twenty vehicles carrying excess passengers have been seized in all rural districts of Kashmir valley. 
 
SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir requested commuters / passengers to directly call traffic authorities in case commercial vehicles indulge in carrying excess passengers, which is a precursor to fatal accidents.
 
He urged commuters to report instances of commercial vehicles overloading directly to traffic authorities, emphasizing the potential danger of such practices leading to fatal accidents. (KNS)
