In a crackdown on illegal mining, the Geology and Mining Department in Kulgam seized three JCB machines and three sieve tractors operating in the Ashmuji area.

Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Athar Amir Khan, a team led by District Mineral Officer Murtaza Bashir conducted the operation along Vaisho Nallah, resulting in the confiscation of the equipment used for unauthorized mineral extraction and transportation.

District Mineral Officer Murtaza Bashir vowed strict action against those involved in illegal mining, asserting that no one would be spared for such activities. He emphasized the importance of sourcing construction material and minerals from legal channels only.

All seized vehicles have been handed over to the police and will remain in their custody until penalties are settled.

DMO Kulgam Murtaza Bashir said that “I will act tough against persons involved in illegal mining, and nobody will be spared for such doings.”(KNS).
