Three labourers are feared dead after an old bridge on river Jhelum collapsed on Sunday afternoon in Gingal area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the incident happened when three labourers were dismantling the bridge.

He said that as the bridge collapsed the trio slipped and drowned in river Jhelum. “Soon after the incident, search and rescue operation was launched to trace them,” he said.

Meanwhile, in another incident, two minor boys were rescued after they slipped into a Nallah in Mundji village of Sopore this afternoon.

According to officials soon after the incident, a major operation was launched and the duo was rescued.

They have been identified as Areeb Bashir Mir son of Bashir Ahmad Mir and Sabiq Mushtaq Mir son of Mushtaq Ahmad Mir —both residents of Mundji.

Both the minors were taken to SDH Sopore and the condition of Sabiq is said to be critical—(KNO)
