Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a comprehensive 10-point plan to enhance the India-ASEAN partnership during the 21st India-ASEAN Summit on Thursday, PTI reported.

Highlighting the importance of these ties for Asia's future, he noted that India-ASEAN trade has doubled to over USD 130 billion in the past decade.

Key initiatives include celebrating 2025 as the ASEAN-India Year of Tourism, increasing scholarships at Nalanda University, and providing grants for ASEAN students in Indian agricultural universities. Modi emphasized the need for deeper trade ties, cultural connections, and cooperation in technology and connectivity.

The plan also involves organizing the ASEAN-India Women Scientists Conclave and initiating a regular ASEAN-India Cyber Policy Dialogue. Additionally, Modi pledged $5 million for disaster resilience and proposed a 'Plant a Tree for Mother' campaign to build climate resilience.

Modi's visit to Laos aims to further engage with ASEAN nations amid global tensions, reinforcing India's commitment to its Act East Policy.
