In a significant move against the growing drug menace in the region, a team from M.R. Gunj Police Station conducted a routine naka checking at Syed Mansoor Zaldagar, where they intercepted an auto-rickshaw (Registration No. JK01H-9826).

The individuals aboard the vehicle were identified as Waseem Bashir Sheikh, the driver, and his wife Uzma Waseem, both residents of Hamdania Colony, Bemina.

Upon conducting a search, police recovered a substantial quantity of narcotic substances from their possession. During the investigation, led by SHO M.R. Gunj, it was revealed that the couple had been using their rickshaw, leveraging their family cover, to facilitate the illegal sale of narcotics to the youth in the area.

Both Waseem Bashir Sheikh and Uzma Waseem have been arrested. A case under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at M.R. Gunj Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to combating drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
