A 21-year-old man accused of killing his coworker at a powerloom factory in Maharashtra’s Thane district has been arrested from South Kashmir’s Anantnag, police said on Tuesday.

The accused, Sabir Rahamtullah Ansari, a resident of Bihar’s East Champaran, allegedly robbed and fatally attacked Neeraj Kumar Gopinath Vishwakarma (40) from Uttar Pradesh on February 4 before fleeing. The victim later succumbed to his injuries on February 18.

Police launched a manhunt, tracking Ansari’s movements from Maharashtra to Delhi and later to Jammu and Kashmir. Technical surveillance and coordination with J&K Police led to his arrest from a bakery in Anantnag’s Lal Chowk on Sunday.

The police recovered a stolen mobile phone and ₹29,000 in cash from the accused, who has now been taken back to Maharashtra for further investigation. [KNT]
