A heated exchange erupted in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly after BJP leader Sunil Sharma made controversial remarks, stating, “They were not martyrs but traitors.” His statement sparked strong protests from both the Treasury benches and Kashmir-based opposition parties, who demanded an immediate withdrawal of the remarks.

AIP MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed led the protest, condemning the remarks as "humiliating and divisive." He asserted that such statements insult the sacrifices of the people and should not find space in the Assembly records. "These remarks should be withdrawn or expunged from the records," Sheikh Khursheed demanded firmly.

Amid intense slogan shouting between Treasury benches and BJP members, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather intervened and announced that the remarks had been expunged from the House records, bringing the matter to a close.

AIP stands firm against any attempt to distort history and undermine the sacrifices of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The party reiterates its commitment to defending the dignity and truth of those who have laid down their lives.
