In a firm digital and diplomatic response, India has blocked the X (formerly Twitter) accounts of China’s Global Times, Xinhua News Agency, and Turkish broadcaster TRT World, reports news agency IANS.

The move follows allegations of spreading disinformation and pro-Pakistan propaganda during heightened India-Pakistan tensions after India’s Operation Sindoor.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) cited national security and public order concerns. The blocked accounts reportedly amplified false claims, including a debunked report about an Indian Rafale jet being downed — traced back to an old 2021 crash.

India’s Embassy in China and PIB’s Fact Check unit flagged the content as misleading, warning media outlets to verify sources amid escalating digital misinformation campaigns.
