Amid ongoing crackdowns on substandard food products in urban areas of the state, disturbing reports have emerged from several remote regions of the Valley highlighting the growing prevalence of intoxicating substances. Terming the trend deeply regrettable and an alarming sign of social decay, prominent Islamic scholar and Chairman of Karwan-e-Islami International, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, has called for immediate and unified efforts to counter this decline through moral education and spiritual revival.
Addressing the congregants on the blessed occasion of Friday at Central Jama Masjid, Nai Pora, Anantnag, Allama Hami emphasized that real development in the state can only be achieved by eradicating negative mindsets and immoral influences within society. He highlighted the urgent need for moral education as a foundational pillar for social reform and sustainable progress.
Allama Hami linked the current societal challenges to a growing disconnect from Islamic values and a lack of ethical guidance, stating that "the shocking and distressing reports we receive daily from different parts of the Valley are a reflection of this moral vacuum."
In this context, he paid rich tribute to the legacy of three great Islamic revivalists—Sheikh Hamza Makhdumi, Mujaddid Alf Thani (Sheikh Ahmad Sirhindi), and A‘la Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (may Allah have mercy upon them)—on the occasion of their respective ‘Urs (death anniversaries). Calling them the “Three Revivers” of Islamic sciences, he noted that these spiritual giants not only rejuvenated the faith in their respective eras but also left behind a timeless legacy of knowledge, reform, and moral training.
“These blessed personalities were the torchbearers of a living tradition that guides the Ummah towards higher moral, social, and spiritual standards,” he said. “Wherever their teachings are implemented, they cultivate a conscientious and empowered community—one capable of forming the bedrock of a just and developed society.”
Allama Hami affirmed that the contributions of these saints to the religious and social fabric of the Muslim world will remain unforgettable until the Day of Judgment. He urged the public to cultivate love and respect for these revered figures and to remain steadfast on their noble path throughout life.
“Their lives are beacons of light in these dark times,” he concluded. “Only by returning to their teachings can we hope to overcome the challenges facing our society today.”
