A man was injured in a leopard attack in the Rayathpora Pinjoora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday, officials said.

The injured has been identified as Muhammad Maqbool Dar, son of Abdul Rahim Dar, a local inhabitant of Rayathpora Pinjoora, aged around 50 years. He sustained injuries after being attacked by a leopard in the area.

Following the incident, locals rushed to his aid and he was immediately shifted to the District Hospital Shopian for treatment. Hospital sources said the injured is undergoing medical care, while his condition is being monitored.

The incident has triggered concern among inhabitants of the area, particularly in villages located close to forest fringes, where frequent movement of wild animals has been reported in recent times.

Loaals have appealed to the Wildlife authorities to capture the leopard before it could pose further danger to human lives. [KNT]
