BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Wednesday called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged suicide of government officer Gagandeep Randhawa, submitting a memorandum in this regard.

Chugh alleged that Randhawa was “an innocent officer” who was driven to death for refusing extortion demands and resisting alleged irregularities in a government tender. He claimed that the case involves serious allegations of corruption and coercion.

The BJP leader further alleged that Punjab minister Laljit Bhullar, part of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government led by Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, was being given “VIP treatment” by the police and was being shielded from investigation.

He demanded an impartial probe by a central agency, stating that only a CBI investigation would ensure accountability and justice in the case.

There was no immediate response from the AAP government or Minister Laljit Bhullar regarding the allegations.
