A houseboat partially sank in the River Jhelum in the Rajbagh area of Srinagar on Wednesday amid continuous rainfall, officials said.

The incident occurred between Zero Bridge and Abdullah Bridge, a stretch that witnessed rising water activity as the city experienced intermittent rains during the day.

Officials said the houseboat tilted and partially submerged in the river, prompting efforts to prevent further sinking.

After sustained efforts, the houseboat was brought back to its position by securing it with ropes tied to trees and other structures along the riverbank.

Srinagar witnessed intermittent rainfall throughout the day, which contributed to conditions along the Jhelum, though no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

The situation was brought under control after the houseboat was stabilized, preventing further damage.
