A massive landslide at Shalgadi in Banihal has forced the closure of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), leaving thousands of passengers and heavy motor vehicles stranded.

Officials said huge amounts of debris and boulders blocked the highway, halting traffic movement on the crucial route linking Jammu and Srinagar.

Authorities have launched clearance operations at the site, deploying men and machinery to restore traffic at the earliest. Commuters have been advised to avoid travel on the highway until the road is declared safe.

Further updates are awaited as restoration efforts continue.
