Continuing its crackdown under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police on Wednesday demolished an illegally constructed residential structure belonging to a habitual drug peddler in the Palpora Noorbagh area.

Officials said the accused, Hilal Ahmad Sheikh of Zahidpora Hawal, had encroached upon state land and raised the structure without legal permission in Srinagar. The action was taken after it was established that the property was constructed using proceeds from narcotics trafficking.

Police said the accused is involved in multiple NDPS cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Khanyar and Safakadal police stations.

Investigations also revealed that close associates and family members of the accused are allegedly linked to drug-related cases across the Valley, indicating a wider narcotics network.

The demolition was carried out after completing legal formalities and in coordination with concerned authorities. Police reiterated that properties generated through drug money will not be allowed to stand and strict action will continue against those involved in narcotics trade.

Authorities have urged the public to support the anti-drug campaign and help protect youth from the growing drug menace.
