The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination held on May 3, citing inputs from law enforcement and central agencies pointing to alleged irregularities in the examination process.

The decision, taken with Government of India approval, has been referred to the CBI for a comprehensive probe. A fresh examination will be held on dates to be announced separately. Candidates will not need to re-register and examination fees already paid will be refunded. Existing registration details, candidature and exam centres will remain valid.

The NTA urged candidates and parents to rely only on official notifications and avoid unverified information on social media.
