Apni Party president Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari on Saturday raised concern over baggage restrictions being imposed on Hajj pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir on their return journey, saying the abrupt changes had caused anxiety and mental anguish among travelers who had just completed a sacred obligation.
Bukhari said pilgrims were told before departure to reduce luggage by 15 kg, but were now being informed that only 5 kg check-in and 7 kg hand baggage would be allowed on the Ahmedabad-Srinagar sector, with remaining luggage up to 30 kg to be transported separately by road. He said pilgrims feared sacred items, gifts and perishable goods could be lost or damaged in transit and demanded immediate government intervention with the Hajj Committee of India and concerned airline authorities.
