Two accused have been arrested in connection with the poaching of an endangered musk deer in the Bandipora forest belt, officials said, as a third accused continues to evade arrest.

The arrested accused, identified as Noorani Swathi and Akther Ali Swathi, both sons of Dilpazeer Swathi of Kalakote Rajouri, have been booked under Section 325 BNS and Sections 9, 39 and 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act in FIR No. 9/2026 at Police Station Pethkoot.

Investigation is continuing and further legal action is expected.
