Sopore, July 14 : The newly elected president and vice-president of municipal council Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday took oath at a swearing in ceremony held at municipal council office here.

An official told the news agencyโ€”Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the oath was administered by additional district development commissioner (ADDC) Sopore, Parvaiz Sajad to the recently elected president and vice-president of MC Sopore.

Recently, the National Conference (NC) councillor from Ward No. 13 of Sopore, Masrat Nissar Kar and NC councillor form Ward No. 11, Mohammad Yousuf Radoo were elected president and vice-president respectively.

Masrat Kar defeated her opponent Irfan Ali by a margin of 06 votes, and Mohammad Yousuf Radoo also defeated his opponent Abdul Ahad Malla by 06 votes in the election, which was held on July 04.

Notably, the post of president of MC Sopore was lying vacant after majority of councillors moved a no-confidence motion against its president Abdul Ahad Malla in January this yearโ€”(KNO)
