Srinagar, Aug 06 : After almost four months Friday congregational prayers were held at historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar on Friday.

Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the Friday prayers were held today as the authorities allowed congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid after almost fours months.

Notably, Friday congregational prayers were suspended at the historic Jamia Masjid four months ago in view of the second wave of Covid-19 across the country.

Reports said that the prayers concluded peacefully at the Jamia Masjid as there was no untoward incident anywhere in the area.

Meanwhile, the people appealed to the authorities to release Mirwaiz Molvi Umer Farooq from house detention and allow him to offer Friday sermons at the Jamia Masjid. (KNS)
