New Delhi: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman, AS Kiran Kumar today said that ISRO is working with NASA to launch a joint mission named NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) by 2020-21 which would greatly help in estimation of biomass.
Synthetic Aperture Radar is a unique sensor technology which provides high-resolution all-weather imaging on a global scale.
Addressing a press conference today at the Project Managers Global Summit here, Mr Kumar underlined that the joint mission will pave the way to increase biomass estimation as well as agricultural production apart from the earth surface information which will provide various inputs for future quake precautions.
“International space agencies are trying to work together and collaborating more so that the resources can be shared and more information can be made accessible.
Our weather forecasting satellite, ScatSat developed to monitor sea surface winds and help predict the genesis of cyclones is a very important input to global weather forecasting community”, Mr Kumar added.
