Jammu and Kashmir Police have released 26 Yuva Rajputa Sabha leaders, who were detained on August 21 during a protest in favour of suspension of toll collection at Sarore Plaza on Jammu-Pathankot highway due to poor road conditions and a damaged bridge at Dayalachak.

The development comes a day after Jammu observed complete shutdown on Chamber of Commerce and Industryโ€™s call in solidarity with the detained YRS leaders.

Official sources told news agencyโ€”Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that YRS leaders were released in wee hours from Kathua Jail and were taken to their respective homes in police vehicles.

โ€œMost of the leaders were escorted back to their native place in police vehicles while many were still on their way,โ€ they said.

Earlier, Police had said that the arrested persons will only be released after surety from prominent members of the civil society that they wonโ€™t cause any further breach of peaceโ€”(KNO)
