Media Professionals were barred from covering the activities of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's maiden visit to Central Kashmir's district Ganderbal on Saturday.

Local reporters representing various National media Organisations, newspapers and news agencies are aghast after they were denied permission to cover the two meetings of Omar abdullah held at Mini secretariat & Dak banglow in Ganderbal.

Members of Ganderbal Press Association said, It is very unfortunate that journalists were not allowed to perform their professional duties.

A senior journalist said that recently CM Omar Abdullah promised to give journalists freedom to operate. But it seems those were just claims, after government formation we were expecting some relief."

"We register our protest against it. Let the Government tell us why journalists were stopped: journalists said.

A number of delegations from across the district interacted with Omar Abdullah who arrived at the district headquarters around 2:30-Pm amid a tight security cover.

The Ganderbal Press Association has decided to boycott the event of National Conference and Omar Abdullah, until response from CM.
