According to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), voilent protest erupted in Katra on Monday over proposed ropeway project from Katra town to the Hindu shrine of Vaishno Devi in the area.

Jamwal is also a Congress leader, who recently contested assembly polls unsuccessfully from Vaishno Devi constituency.

The shopkeepers, and labourers have apprehensions that the ropeway line would decrease the footfall in the market and consequently impact their businesses.
