The Delhi High Court has granted permission for Member of Parliament Er Rashid to participate in the second part of the 4th Session of the 18th Lok Sabha, scheduled from March 26 to April 4, 2025, while remaining in custody.

The ruling ensures that the elected representative of North Kashmir can fulfill his parliamentary duties, reinforcing the democratic mandate of his constituents.

Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi hailed the decision, stating, “We are immensely grateful to the judiciary for upholding democratic principles, enabling Er Rashid to represent his people despite challenges. This is a triumph for democracy and justice.”

He also extended appreciation to the AIP’s legal team, led by Advocate N. Hariharan and Advocate Vikhyat Oberoi, for their relentless efforts in securing the order.

Under the court’s directives, Er Rashid will be escorted from prison to Parliament by police and handed over to parliamentary security for each session, returning to custody afterward.
While allowed to perform his MP duties, he will face restrictions on media interactions and communication access.

Inam Un Nabi emphasized that the verdict marks a significant win for democratic representation, ensuring North Kashmir’s voice resonates in India’s highest legislative forum.
