Arunachal Pradesh Police have claimed that they have arrested two men from Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly engaging in espionage activities on behalf of handlers based in Pakistan.

According to police, Nazir Ahmad Malik and Sabir Ahmed Mir were picked up during separate operations from Ganga Village and Abotani Colony in Itanagar. Preliminary investigation indicates that both men are inhabitants of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Arunachal Pradesh Police stated that the duo had been tracking and documenting Army movement and locations in parts of Arunachal Pradesh. The information was reportedly transmitted to Pakistan-based handlers through a Telegram channel.

Police said further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the information shared and identify connected networks. [KNT]
