Srinagar, Sept 25: The service of a Special Police Officer (SPO) has been regularised in Jammu and Kashmir police for saving lives of over 15 security personnel after a militant hurled a hand grenade at Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
A militant had hurled a hand grenade at a security force vehicle carrying over 15 CRPF and police personnel in the main chowk Sopore yesterday.
However, SPO Aquib, without caring for his life, immediately threw the grenade outside the vehicle.
Two SPOs, including Aquib, and a CRPF jawan besides four civilians received minor splinter injuries.
The daring act of SPO was highly appreciated by senior officers and former chief minister Omar Abdullah.  (UNI)
