Srinagar: To pay homage to the slain police Constable Shameem Ahmad, a wreath laying ceremony was held in DPL Srinagar.

Deputy Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly  Nazir Ahmed Khan Gurezi,  civil, police/ security force officers and jawans  laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the slain cop.

Besides, the Deputy speaker the wreaths and flowers were laid by the father of the slain cop,  DGP J&K, Dr. S.P Vaid, IGP Kashmir S.J.M Gillani, IGP Armed/IRP Mubarak Ganaie, IG  CRPF Ravideep Sahi, DIG CKR Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmad Lone, DIG Armed Kashmir Rafiq-ul-Hassan, DIG SSB R. K. Bhumbla and a good number of SsP, DySsP Inspectors and jawans.

As has been reported earlier  constable Shameem Ahamd Sheikh resident of Gurez at present Bandipora was injured when some unknown militants hurled a grenade on police/security force deployment in Nowhatta. He was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The slain cop is survived by aged parents, two brothers and two unmarried sisters.

The slain cop was laid to rest at his native place, Ajar Bandipora. Thousands of the people including Sheikh Zulfikar SSP Bandipora, DySP DAR and other senior police officers of the district attended his Nimaz-e-Jinazah.
