The Congress high command on Friday constituted a three-member committee to look into reports of "indiscipline and anti-party activities" in its Jammu and Kashmir unit.

As per an order issued by AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, the Congress President has approved the proposal with immediate effect. Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil has been appointed convenor of the panel, with Dr. Amar Singh and Rafeek Khan as other members.

The move comes close on the heels of the Congress high command summoning J&K's top leaders to New Delhi and reprimanding several of them over infighting and dissent within the party. Once a major player in J&K politics, Congress has been reduced to the fringes of the state's political landscape.
