Srinagar: Commuters were struck in a serpentine traffic jam on Monday on the strategic 300-km Srinagar-Jammu highway.

Witnesses said that hundreds of passenger vehicles and trucks were stranded on the highway in Banihal-Ramsoo sector for over five hours in massive traffic jam.

The jamming, they said, was caused due to narrowing of the road at several places due to landslides and widening work being carried out by the authorities.

The vehicles were being allowed to move from Kashmir towards Jammu today.
