Sopore, Jan 4 : Protests erupted in Unisoo village early Thursday morning against the killing of a youth by unknown gunmen Wednesday evening in Harwan- Bomai Sopore.

The slain youth, identified as Arif Ahmad Sofi son of Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, local head of Peoples Leauge, belonged to Wahipora area of Unisoo village. He was 26. Arif was the lone son of his parents who have three daughters.

Reportedly people from the area gathered and protested early morning while the body was on its way to the native village. “The gunmen shot him from point blank range”, officials told Kashmir Wire after the incident.

His father said some unknown persons came to their house and dragged Arif, the lone bread winner, out of the house and pumped bullets on his body.Arif was shifted to nearby Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He was a Medical Representative by profession.

Protests were going on amid sloganeering when this report was filed.  (Kashmir Wire)
