Srinagar, Jan 13: Army fired a couple of rounds in air after locals allegedly confronted them for erecting a vehicle check post at Shalteng area of Kashmir capital Srinagar.

   Today early morning, an IED was spotted and diffused in the same area. A police official said that army had erected a vehicle check post in the area, however, youth pelted stones on them. The situation according to him was brought under control.

    Local sources said that army resorted to aerial firing creating panic in the area. The youth pelted stones on them. The clashes disrupted vehicular movement on the busy Srinagar-Baramulla road.
Sources added that at least two persons were wounded in Army action.
A police official said that they are investigating the matter.

   Sources added that top police officers rushed to spot to take stock of the situation. (CNS)
