Srinagar, Jan 18 : Appealing to India and Pakistan to maintain ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir, working president of the National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah said it is the people on both sides near borders who suffer the most.

Reacting to fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in R S Pora, where a BSF jawan was killed and several others injured on Wednesday night, the former Chief Minister questioned agreeing for new Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), when ceasefire was not being implemented.

He said ceasefire in 2003 was biggest gift for the people living on both sides of the LoC and IB in Jammu and Kashmir. But, he said, for the past few months ceasefire violation on the border has become a daily routine.
