Thane, Jan 27 : A team of police personnel from Bhiwandi crime unit and Osiwara police station in Mumbai were attacked by women when they had gone to the locality to arrest a hardened criminal, police said on Friday.
Thane Police PRO Sukhada Narkar said that an offence under section 170,420 rw 34 of the IPC was registered with the Osiwara police station against the accused Kamar Ali Jaffari.
During investigation, based on the CCTV, police identified the accused among the members in the group.
The Osiwara police got a tip-off that the wanted accused was in hiding in Pirani Pada of Bhiwandi in the cluster among Iranis.
Based on the information, the police party from Mumbai, with the help of the crime branch officials of the Bhiwandi unit, raided the locality yesterday afternoon at about 1400 hrs and spotted him resting in his house.
