SRINAGAR, FEB 08 : The Jammu and Kashmir former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday expressed the serious concern over the cancellation of age relaxation in UPSC to Jammu and Kashmir students.
Omar Abdullah and leader of opposition demanded that steps should be taken to restore five years of age relaxation for UPSC aspirants.
“Government should take steps to restore five years of age relaxation for UPSC aspirants,” Omar said during the zero hours of the assembly.
UPSC notification for preliminary IAS, IFS and other examination (2018) was out on Wednesday making aspirants from Kashmir aghast as the reservation for the state has been cancelled.
Since 1999, students of J&K were given a relaxation of additional 5 years from the rest of the candidates of OM category throughout India. The eligibility of students of J&K was 37 years but according to the recent notification, it has been cancelled without prior notice.
