Baramulla, Feb 9 : Authorities on Friday imposed restrictions in apple township of Sopore to prevent any assembly and law and order problem on the fifth death anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

All roads leading to Sopore have been closed for any traffic and pedestrian movement by security forces who have put up ‘nakas’ and other roadblocks.

Afzal, a resident of Sopore, was hanged and later buried in Delhiโ€™s Tihar jail on this day in 2013, evoking massive protests across the Kashmir valley.

Officials said restrictions under Section 144 CrPC have been imposed in some parts of Sopore since Friday morning as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.

However, people alleged that they were not being allowed to move out of their houses by the security forces and state police personnel deployed in strength.
