Srinagar, Feb 12 : The summer capital, Srinagar and its outskirts finally received snowfall on Monday morning, ending the dry spell which has resulted in dry cold related diseases due to drop in the water level in water bodies.

Roof and tree tops besides open spaces and roads had turned white as it snowed on Monday morning in Srinagar. People here were praying for wet weather after a 40-day-long Chilai-Kalan, the severest period of the winter which ended on January 31, passed off almost without any snow and rain.

However, the 20 day-long Chilai Khurd, which started after Kalan, has finally brought snow in the valley, including Srinagar.
