Washington, Feb 14 : Director of US National Intelligence, Dan Coats, has warned that there was fear of Pakistan-supported militant groups continuing to carry out attacks inside India.
Mr Coates told this in his testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Tuesday.
He said such a situation would lead to the escalation of tension between the two neighbours.
Mr Coats’ remarks have come a few days after a group of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad militants struck the Sunjuwan Military Camp in Jammu on Saturday, killing seven people including six soldiers.
He said Pakistan will continue to threaten US interests by deploying new nuclear weapons capabilities, maintaining its ties with the militants, restricting counter-terrorism cooperation, and drawing closer to China.
