Srinagar: Authorities on Wednesday night placed Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest at his Nigeen residence, said a spokesman.He said the detention comes in view of the strike call issued by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the killing of three civilians in south Kashmir and assassination of prominent journalist Syed Shujaat Bukhari.
A police party arrived at Mirwaiz’s Nigeen residence late night and put him under house confinement, he said, adding that the amalgam leader Engineer Hilal Ahmad War has also been placed under house arrest.
