Baramulla: Power development department (PDD) employees on Monday locked down Sopore receiving station and staged protest over the death of a colleague due to the department’s negligence.

Many PDD employees assembled at the receiving station Sopore and staged demonstrations over the death of their colleague Mohammad Ramzan Lone due to the negligence of the department, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. Shouting slogans, the protesters demanded that the department should look after slain daily wager’s family since he has served department for last 20 years.

45-year-old Lone of Nowpora Jageer was electrocuted to death when he was repairing an electricity line in town on Saturday.(Agencies)
