Srinagar: PDP Vice President Sartaj Madni on Monday resigned from the top post after legislators revolted against the party chief Mehbooba Mufti over ‘nepotism’.
Madni is maternal uncle of Mehbooba and was appointed to the coveted post after late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s untimely death in 2016.
“I have submitted my resignation to party president Mehbooba Mufti in the larger interests of the party and for its strengthening, stability and unity,” said Madni.
