SSP says it was routine exercise, shall continue till Aug 15

Srinagar, Jul 27 : The government forces on Friday launched search operations in the commercial Hub Lal Chowk in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
A joint operation was launched by the Army, state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The local shopkeepers told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a large number of forces personnel arrived in the commercial Hub and parked their vehicles along roadsides.
They said that the forces soon after their arrival started searching the shops and the buildings in the area.
The search operation in the business hub was launched three days after a CRPF man was killed in a militant attack in Batmaloo area and a day after windowpanes of vehciles belonging to journalists were broken in the vicinity of Srinagar’s press enclave.
Talking to KNS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ismail Lone said that it was a routine exercise and these exercises shall continue till August 15.
He said that no arrest was made during the exercise. (KNS)
