Anantnag: Violent protests broke out this morning in this south Kashmir Township following rumours that the Supreme Court was hearing a case challenging Article-35A continuation in the state.
Groups of youth hit the streets here at Lal Chowk and staged demonstrations after rumours made rounds that the Apex Court was hearing today the petitions challenging Article-35 A, witnesses told Local Media Persons.
Angry protesters, witnesses said clashed with government forces by hurling rocks at them.
“In retaliation, the government forces burst tear smoke shells to disperse protesters,” witnesses added.
Amidst a complete shutdown, the clashes were going on when this report was filed.(Agencies)
