Srinagar: Hundreds of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers today went on indefinite hunger strike to press their demand for implementation of 7th pay commission and release of their long pending salaries.

Hundreds of SSA teacher under the banner of Teachers Joint Action Committee (TJAC) assembled here in Pratap Park and staged a peaceful demonstration, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. Chanting slogans, the protesters led by President TJAC, Qayoom Wani demanded implementation of 7th pay commission and linking of SSA teachers’ salaries with state sector.

“We are going for indefinite hunger strike from today. Till our demands of immediate implementation of 7th pay commission and release of our long pending salaries are not met, we won’t call off our protest,” President TJAC, Qayoom Wani told.
